TikTok is a video-based social media app developed by ByteDance (a Chinese company). Initially launched in 2016, TikTok has now become the fastest growing social media platform in the world. By some estimates, over 70% of adults in North America have a TikTok account. Many business owners have said to me that they are aware of the popularity of TikTok, but they aren’t sure if their business is “suitable” for the video platform. The truth is, the majority of active daily TikTok users continue to be young people (teenagers and 20-somethings). However, as TikTok continues to grow in popularity, more and more people from all age groups will start to use TikTok. As a matter of fact, Facebook used to be a social media app most frequently used by university students before it became popular with the general public. In my opinion, all businesses are suitable for TikTok because customers from all demographics are signing up for the platform. TikTok is here to stay and you need to get in the game now if you care about growing your business.
